The Drive between Los Angeles and Seattle takes 19h 21m and you will cover 1,146 miles. I wouldn’t recommended driving this whole route direct, instead you should

take the pacific coast highway and stop at some incredible places along the way! We stopped over at San Francisco, Malibu, Santa Barbara and many more!

Which is the best method of Traveling between Los Angeles and Seattle?

i. Train

The Train offers a scenic trip on the Amtrak Coast Starlight, however due to the duration of the Journey (34hrs) and cost involved ($130-$190) I would not recommend this option! Instead you should check out the California Zephyr   a Scenic train ride which runs from Chicago to San Francisco.

This Train even has a transparent dome carriage which is fantastic.

ii. Bus

The Bus between LA and Seattle also is fairly long (27hrs) but faster than the train! It costs $110-$160 so works out a similar price to the train. I would recommended this

option if you plan on doing the trip in different sections. For example, there are many low cost buses Running from Los Angeles to San Francisco. So you can spend a night there before venturing further afield.

iii. Flight

This is the FASTEST & CHEAPEST option if you book your tickets in advance. If you just want to get directly to Seattle and not stop anywhere along the way then a

flight is your best option.

iv. Car/RV

Driving is my favourite way of exploring the USA in general! At Town&Tourist we have hundreds of posts on great american road trips.
If you plan on driving directly to Seattle form Los Angeles it will take you a very long time (19hrs 20 mins) , so I would not recommended just trying to

“get there”. Instead you should take an epic road trip north along the Pacific coast highway stopping of at Malibu, Big Sur, San Francisco and even Lake Tahoe!

Its takes approximately 6hr 30 min to drive between LA and San Francisco!
