Las Vegas is the city of Sin! Bright lights, casinos and wild entertainment are all commonplace is Vegas! Whether your travelling for curiosity or are a “high roller” there is something for everyone amongst the bright lights of Las Vegas!

In this post, I will list my top 5 Wicked Road Trips to Las Vegas! Including an interactive map & Itinerary outlining the best places to stop for each road trip to Las Vegas.

So hop in, start your engines and get ready for a wild ride!

5. Atlanta to Las Vegas – Blues Highway Road Trip! 

Atlanta, Georgia is a buzzing city,  home to the Busiest Airport in the USA, Harts-field Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which draws over 50 million people annually!

Atlanta is famed for its southern hospitality, musical heritage and also the birth place of the civil rights movement.

Atlanta is also home to many other record breaking icons such as the worlds largest Aquarium (home to whale sharks!), the worlds largest Drive in Restaurant and many more.

A road trip between Atlanta & Las Vegas will take you from the East coast of the USA, through Musical Cities like Tupelo, Mississippi (Birth place of Elvis ) & Memphis Tennessee, home of Jazz, Soul & Blues to Little Rock & Fort Smith Arkansas.

Onto Oklahoma City, Amarillo and Albuquerque, New Mexico home of Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, the Largest Hot Air Balloon Festival in the World.

From there you can drive to Phoenix and Flagstaff, Arizona before heading to the Iconic Grand Canyon, Lake Mead and then Las Vegas!

How long does the Atlanta to Las Vegas road trip take?

Driving  between Atlanta and Las Vegas without stopping would take 28 hours and you would cover over 1,971 miles! Of course the best part about a road trip is all the great places you can stop along the way! So we split our trip over 14 days, to take our time and really explore the great cities and states along the way.

Before setting of on your road trip take a drive through the worlds largest Drive in, Varsity in Atlanta.

Varsity is the worlds largest drive in Restaurant and can accommodate up to 600 cars outside and over 800 people inside. The venue is especially popular when Georgia Tech plays at home.

Fun Fact: Varsity makes over two miles of Hot Dogs, 5000 fried pies and 300 gallons of Chilli daily!

4. Las Vegas to Yosemite Road Trip! 

A road trip between Las Vegas & Yosemite National Park offers two very different experience! The bright lights & built up Las Vegas is Sin city and will seduce you with epic casinos, resorts and a wild nightlife.

Whereas Yosemite National Park is the epitome of mother nature, a breath taking landscape of sequoia forests, canyons, peaks, lakes and waterfalls!

How long is a road trip between Las Vegas & Yosemite National Park?

The drive between Las Vegas and Yosemite National Park is between 335 to 564 miles depending upon the route. This takes between 6 hours and 10 hours on average.

What is the best driving route between Las Vegas & Yosemite National Park?

Tioga Pass (US 120), was named one of our 25 Most Epic Driving Roads in the U.S.A. Thus its must drive route to Yosemite National Park from Las Vegas.

Driving down via Tioga Pass is also the shortest route at just 5.7 hours and 334 miles from Las Vegas. It will lead you to the eastern entrance of Yosemite National Park.

Insider Tip:

The Tioga Pass route works only in late spring, summer, and early fall). In the winter it closes due to snow.

I would recommended taking at least two days for this road trip to really enjoy the journey.

Death Valley National Park is arguably the most WILD place in the USA! Death Valley holds records such as the hottest place in the USA with recorded temperatures of 130 degrees F (54’C) and the lowest point in the USA at Badwater Basin, which is 279 feet (85 m) below sea level!

These remarkable conditions have formed extremely unique & beautiful landscapes which you have to experience!

3. Panamint Springs

:As you leave death valley via US 190 West, you will head through Panamint Springs. This is a popular place to stop of and is great for star gazing!

4. Lone Pine

Road Trip Route: As you leave Panamint Springs follow US 190 until it merges onto US 136 and you will enter the town of Lone Pine.

5. Mount Whitney 

As you drive into high country from Lone Pine the road climbs nearly 5,000 feet and zigzags its way up the face of the Eastern Sierra before reaching Whitney Portal, the gateway for hikers who are bound for the summit of 14,505-foot Mount Whitney the highest point in the USA! (outside Alaska).

3. Denver to Las Vegas Road Trip

The rocky mountains of Colorado, are a jumping off point for the greatest ski resorts in america, such as aspen and home to historic mining towns such as Durango, Silverton and of course the picturesque Grand Junction, Colorado.

Of course the road trip in-between these two great cities is an epic experience, through the states of Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and of course Colorado! With highlights such as hoover dam and Moab en route!

How Long is the Drive from Las Vegas to Denver?

There are 604.99 miles from Denver to Las Vegas in southwest direction and 749 miles (1,205.40 kilometers) by car, following the I-70 W route. If you were driving directly there it would only take you 11-14 hours. 

For this journey we have spread the trip over a 12 day Las Vegas to Denver Itinerary…but it easily could have been much longer, with so many amazing sights en route.

Lake Tahoe is one of the largest freshwater lakes in California. With its shimmering cobalt blue waters, its a magical place to visit. Whereas Yosemite offers roaring waterfalls and breath taking vistas which overlook pure mother nature at her best!

An adventurous road trip between Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe can take you through Death Valley and Yosemite National Parks, before arriving at Lake Tahoe. After a few wild nights in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe is the ideal place to unwind.

How far is Las Vegas from Los Angeles?

Las Vegas is 270 miles from Los Angeles, this will take you approximately 3 hr 52 minutes via I-15 N, which is the most direct route.

Is there a train from LA to Vegas?

Not exactly, however Amtrak does run a bus from Los Angeles to Las Vegas which takes about 6-8 hours.
