Sure, it’s August, but the summer isn’t over yet! Here is a round-up of some of the best August events and unique festivals that we think you might not want to miss!
August 2-5, 2018 | Chicago, IL
With 8 stages, and 180+ bands from all over the world, Lollapalooza is one of the largest and well-known music festivals in the United States. One of this year’s headliners is Bruno Mars; and, although Mars is on tour in America this summer, Lollapalooza is the only North American festival he has booked right now. This year, the Chicago lineup is embracing hip-hop artists more than ever, with a lineup that spans multiple generations from the legendary LL Cool J to contemporary artists including Travis Scott, Logic, Lil Uzi Vert and Tyler, the Creator. Of course, as impressive as the headliners are, it is always recommended that you explore some of the new and upcoming artists and sounds. Here’s the lineup for this year’s August events:
Of course, the Lollapalooza after shows are a huge part of this “can’t miss” experience with over 20 participating venues around Chicago featuring 55+ performances and 110+ artists as part of the festival’s official after shows.
Note: Security measures have been strengthened for Lollapalooza in the wake of Las Vegas mass shooting, so be prepared for long lines and be sure to check their website to find out what you are and aren’t allowed to bring in with you.
Route 64 in Arkansas | August 9-11, 2018
Designated a “Travel Treasure” by _Southern Traveler_ magazine, Bargains Galore on 64 is the longest yardsale in the USA … 160 miles of them spanning almost the entire state of Arkansas, in fact!
This unique “event” draws everyone from tourists to dealers to buyers and sellers, all coming to enjoy the fun, friendly atmosphere, the beautiful vistas, and the chance to find the bargain of a lifetime. This is the stuff that shopaholics dream about!
This year’s 19th annual yardsale … will be held Thursday, August 9th through Saturday, August 11th … and, unfortunately, it will be their final year.
Seattle, WA | August 17-19, 2018
Over the years, it has grown from a gathering of 500 people in 1991 to a three-day annual political rally, concert, and arts and crafts fair featuring hundreds of speakers, bands, and performers on four stages with attendance typically over 100,000 people.
While you are in town for Hempfest, be sure to visit the tallest observation tower in Seattle and the 4th tallest in the U.S. … the Space Needle! And… while you are at it, take a spin on the Seattle Great Wheel, which is #9 on our list of the tallest Ferris wheels in the USA!
Nevada | August 26 – September 3, 2018Tens of thousands of people gather once a year in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create “Black Rock City”, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. Celebrating it’s 33rd year, we will always burn the man.
