There are so many reasons to fall in love with Turkey. Tourists come here to get a firsthand experience of the breathtaking architecture, the rich history, and the best boutiques in all of Europe. If this country has caught your interest, you may be wondering when the best time to visit Turkey is.

Technically, there’s no bad time to visit Turkey. Most tourists prefer this country in the spring and autumn seasons. This is because the weather is ideal for getting out and exploring. Don’t get us wrong though, there are also a lot of great things to do in summer and winter while visiting Turkey.

If you’re planning on taking a trip to Turkey, we think you’ll enjoy it any time of the year. However, everyone has different interests and reasons for wanting to visit this country. Today, we’re going to break down the best time to visit Turkey so you’ll have a better idea of when you should visit.

When Not To Visit Turkey?

Although Turkey has something for everyone every month of the year, many seasoned tourists will avoid this country from June through August. This is because the summer months are the peak tourist times. Attractions are more crowded and the rates for flights and accommodations are higher.

One of the great things about Turkey is that the temperatures aren’t scorching hot in the summer. However, July is known to be the hottest month. The average daily high is around 82 F/ 28 C. It also rains frequently in July, causing more humid days.

Cheapest Month To Visit Turkey

Traveling to Turkey doesn’t mean you have to give up your life savings. You can arrange a more affordable trip to this country if you plan it right. Always travel during the off-season, which is November through March, if you want to find cheaper flights and accommodations.

The cheapest month of the year to travel to Turkey is in February. It’s recommended to book your flight a minimum of 4 weeks ahead of time to get a better rate. The earlier you book your flight, the better chance you have of getting a discounted rate.

Finding nice hotels for a cheap rate in Turkey isn’t difficult. If you want to stay somewhere nice for less than $50 a night, you will have an amazing range of selection with Turkish hotels. In February, you can book a stay at Villa Sonata Apart Hotel for as low as $15 a night.

January: Best Time To Find Bargain Admission Rates

If you want to visit Turkey to explore it’s cultural attractions, January is the best time to go. Not only are off-season rates applied, but there are more opportunities to find coupons and discounts to tourist attractions. Tourism is at it’s lowest in January, so places often offer discounts to encourage more visitors to stop in.

Another reason that January is a great month for traveling to Turkey is that the daily temperatures are still mild, so you can enjoy outdoor sightseeing without large crowds. The average temperature ranges depending on where you gom but is rarely below freezing. In Istanbul the average is 48 F/ 9 C, while it’s only 37 F/ 3 C in Cappadocia. One of the warmest areas is Antalya at 57 F/ 14 C.

February: Best Month For Skiing

In the alpine regions of Turkey, there are several great ski resorts. If you travel to Anatolia, you can visit one of the most popular ski centers, Erciyes-Kayseri. However, there are 18 different ski centers across this country and there is no better time to experience them than February.

When you want to stay warm fo the day, there are many indoor activities to take advantage of. Turkey has a lot of unique places to explore, like palaces, art galleries, and museums. There are also many great cafes that are extra cozy this time of year.

March: Best Month For Turkish Festivals

Winters in Turkey aren’t very extreme, so the end of the winter season is relatively mild. There are more mild days in March that range between 49 and 47 F/ 9 to 14 C and it’s also the rainiest day of the month. Even though the weather may be wetter, it’s the perfect month to enjoy both indoor and outdoor attractions.

March is the month of many festivals throughout Turkey. On March 21, the country celebrates the Nevruz festival to welcome in spring. There are also a variety of festivals that come on different dates and are often celebrated in March.

While June is the kickoff of tourist season, it’s still not as busy as July and August. This allows you to enjoy cultural attractions and festivals without huge crowds. We love exploring Turkey’s natural sites this time of year and soaking up the sun.

July is the hottest and most humid time of year in Turkey. If you love a warm summer day, then this is the perfect time to see what Turkish beaches are like. Certain parts of this country can get as high as 86 F/ 30 C. When temperatures are that high, there’s no better way to spend the day than at the beach.

There may be days when you want to get out of the sun. Throughout Turkey, there are many great restaurants to stop at, enjoy a nice meal, and cool off. There are more tourist attractions open, however, you may have to wait in longer line-ups.

The leaves start to change color, allowing a stunning view for hikes and nature walks. Many tourists enjoy spending the entire day just walking around sightseeing.
