When traveling to Fiji, you’ll want to take into consideration the current season and climate conditions. The worst time to travel to Fiji is in January and February because of the rainy season and the risk of cyclones.

There technically isn’t a bad time to visit Fiji, but if had to choose, January and February would be it. Not only is this during the rainy season, but these months get some of the hottest temperatures. January also correlated with the European holiday when schools are on break.

During this time, you’ll even see the price of hotels and airfare increase. If you’re traveling during this time, remember to book at least three months in advance to get the best rates. Keep in mind that in January and February there is always the risk of tropical cyclones which could pose delays on boat and plane rides.

When is the Cheapest Time to go to Fiji?

The cheapest time to visit Fiji is from January to May. This is considered Fiji’s wet season and tourists' low season. The low season is considered the months of December through May.

Except for the last two weeks of December, you’ll find cheaper flights during this time. The cheapest days to fly during this time are Tuesday and Wednesday. The cheapest airport to fly to is going to be Nadi International Airport where you can find flights for as low as $700.

If you’re looking for when to find cheaper accommodations, you’ll want to book through Fiji’s wet season as well. However, be careful during the holiday season as prices will increase for a brief time. In February, you can find rooms for as low as $60 per night.

If you are going to travel to avoid crowds, May and June are great months to travel. You will also score discounts on flights and hotel accommodations during this time. Temperatures during the daytime range from the mid-sixties to the mid-eighties, making this the perfect beach weather.

When is Cyclone Season in Fiji?

The islands of Fiji don’t experience hurricanes like parts of the Caribbean, they will occasionally have cyclones. You can expect cyclone season from November through April. These can be very devastating depending on how bad they are.

The good thing about cyclone season is that these cyclones typically move very fast. With cyclones being fast-moving, they typically only affect visitors for a day or two with heavy wind and rain. If you ever visit and a cyclone arrives, listen to your hotel staff for safety guidelines.
